WILLIAM MICHALE CROSE

San Diego, Cal April 4- Capt. William M. Crose, 62 years old, retired navy officer and former Governor of Samoa, died here. He was born in Indiana and was a classmate of Curtis D. Wilbur, former secretary of the
navy at Annapolis.

William Michael Crose was born in Greencastle, Ind, and attended DePauw University.  He was graduated from the United States naval academy in 1888 and married Edith Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1895.  A Lt. during the Spanish-American War, Crose served on the Wheeling.  In 1916 he was named commander of the North Dakota and in 1918-20 was commander of the naval training station at Hampton Roads, VA.  He retired in 1923.    --- kbz
